The global automotive industry faced many challenges in 2011. From the supply-chain disruptions that followed the Japanese tsunami and the Thailand floods, to the second economic downturn across the United States in the summer and the unfolding European debt crisis, the industry was buffeted by uncertainty and volatility. Success in this industry requires a deep understanding of global market conditions and the ability to plan for, and mitigate, a variety of risks.

Biswas is Senior Director and Asia Chief Economist at IHS. He is responsible for coordination of economic analyses and forecasts for the Asia-Pacific region, contribution to the IHS global forecast, client support, business development and media interaction. He has extensive experience in economic analysis in the Asia-Pacific region and has published widely on a range of economic, trade, and investment-related topics. Biswas is a graduate of the London School of Economics with a B.Sc.Econ.Hons. in Economics, and received his M.Sc. and D.I.C. from the Imperial College at London University.

Charles Chesbrough, Senior Economist, is responsible for developing and integrating macro-sales forecast scenarios and models into IHS Automotive worldwide global forecasts. Prior to joining IHS Automotive, Mr. Chesbrough was a Senior Consultant in Ford Motor Company's North American Marketing Strategy Group. In addition, Mr. Chesbrough is an expert in market research and econometric analysis through many years as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Chesbrough was a Ph.D. student in economics at Michigan State University, holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Illinois, Chicago and a B.A. in economics from Michigan State University.

De Vleesschauwer is Associate Director and Senior Consultant in the Automotive Consulting practice. He is responsible for both business and technical consulting projects in the automotive industry in Europe. He has more than 13 years' experience in the international automotive industry and has contributed to many special projects, including the 42 Volts study (1999), Future Powertrain Technologies (2000), Diesel Particulate Filter (2001), Future Powertrain Technologies (2000, 2004, 2007), Automotive Sourcing Strategies (2002), and Niche Vehicle Market (2003). More recently his work included areas such as biofuels market potential, CO2 forecasting evaluations, and future mobility outlooks.
De Vleesschauwer has an MBA from the Cardiff Business School at the University of Wales.

Mark Fulthorpe joined the CSM Worldwide European staff in 1999 as Manager of European Forecast Services. At IHS Automotive he is responsible for global light vehicle production forecasting, future product program intelligence, platform strategies and market analysis. Before joining CSM, Mr. Fulthorpe spent three years as a Business Analyst with Capita Business Services where he was part of a business development team responsible for the supply of data and data services to UK-based vehicle manufacturers and importers.
Mark has spent most of his career in the automotive sector. Prior to Capita, he worked as a Senior Associate within the DRI/McGraw-Hill Global Automotive Group, initially in component and powertrain research, and later within the forecasting group working on light vehicle forecasts covering the former Soviet Union. He also spent time as a Research Executive with MIL Motoring Research (NOP Automotive) where he ran a Customer Satisfaction program across Western Europe on behalf of Jaguar Cars. He began his career at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), reporting UK sales and registration data.
Mark holds an honours degree in English Literature from the University of London, Goldsmiths College.

Mike Jackson directs the North American Vehicle Production forecasting practice at IHS Automotive. Jackson is a global product planning and strategy expert in the automotive space and conducts extensive executive consultation at all levels of the supply chain with a deep knowledge of the industry and global markets. Jackson assists a diverse client base of manufacturers, suppliers, financial firms and others to anticipate market dynamics to optimize planning, mitigate risk and achieve growth objectives.
Jackson is a highly sought after public speaker, regularly presenting to executive leadership teams and industry conferences throughout North America and around the world in Japan, Korea and Western Europe. Jackson also serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the consulting team, making crucial contributions to client engagements involving future product assessments and advanced technologies. He is frequently quoted by leading print, radio and television media on the industry and the light vehicle production environment.
Prior to IHS Automotive (CSM Worldwide), Jackson was Lead Marketing Strategist for the North American operations of electrical system supplier Alcoa Fujikura, Ltd. (AFL) and had served as Marketing Strategist for French-based automotive interior supplier, Faurecia. Jackson gained vital international experience, living and working in Germany for two years learning to speak the language.
Jackson holds a degree in management strategy from Eastern Michigan University and also earned his M.B.A. in international marketing from Wayne State University.
Hiromu Kakishita has more than 30 years' experience in the sales and marketing areas of the global automotive industry. He serves as IHS Automotive APAC (Asia Pacific) Sales Lead, after joining CSM Worldwide in March 2002, where he was responsible for business development in the Asian market. He worked to launch the first operation of CSM Worldwide in Tokyo, Japan and developed business in Japan, Korea and China until IHS acquired CSM Worldwide in March 2010. This quick growth in Asia allowed him to introduce automotive forecasting services to OEMs, auto parts suppliers, material suppliers and the financial sector. Since the CSM acqusition by IHS, Hiromu is able to continue taking the lead for APAC sales in the IHS Automotive domain.
Previously, Hiromu held positions in materials purchasing and sales and marketing in the automotive industry for 24 years, both in in Japan and the United States. He worked closely with major Japanese car manufactures and established a new marketing system that allowed strategic planning and targeting, increasing business opportunities and profitability for the company.
Hiromu holds a law degree from Kyoto Sangyo University in Kyoto, Japan.
Phil Magney is the Senior Director of Automotive Infotainment for IHS Global Insight. Phil and his team are providers of market intelligence services to a global client base of leading OEMs and suppliers. Prior to this Phil was vice president of iSuppli’s Automotive Practice, which was acquired by IHS in November 2010. Prior to iSuppli Phil was co-founder and president of Telematics Research Group (TRG), a provider of market and technology services to the automotive industry since 2000.
Phil is a well-respected automotive industry analyst with over 25 years of experience with core specialties in automotive telematics and mobile computing. He is the author of numerous reports and papers for industry trade publications in addition to being a frequent speaker at automotive electronics and safety conferences.
At IHS, Phil directs the research teams responsible for trend analysis, vehicle profiling, technology assessment and forecasting for the automotive business practice. In addition, he focuses on custom research projects and consulting relationships with global suppliers to the automotive industry.
Phil earned his bachelors degree in business and economics from the University of Minnesota.
