Global fleet utilization sees slight decline
The global offshore drilling fleet count holds at 849 units, while the number of offshore drilling rigs with contracts has decreased from 727 last week to 724 this week. This yields an adjusted worldwide fleet utilization rate of 85.3 percent.
The US Gulf of Mexico rig supply remains unchanged at 110 units. Likewise, the contracted count stands at 79 creating a static fleet utilization rate of 71.8 percent. Offshore South America, the drilling rig market also remains unchanged, with supply standing at 135 and the contracted count at 108. The fleet utilization rate is 80.0 percent.
In European and Mediterranean waters, the offshore drilling fleet has likewise experienced no change and holds at 120. A total of 113 contracted units creates a fleet utilization rate of 94.2 percent. Offshore West Africa, the contracted count has decreased by two units to 62. With a total supply of 67 offshore rigs, the adjusted fleet utilization rate has decreased to 92.5 percent.
The Middle East has seen its offshore fleet supply decrease from 139 to 138 units, while the contracted count has also decreased by one to 118. As a result of these changes, the adjusted fleet utilization rate is 85.5 percent. In Asian and Australian waters, the mobile drilling fleet stands at 151 units week over week, while the contracted count has decreased by one to 127 rigs. The region’s fleet utilization rate is down at 84.1 percent.
