National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS)
The National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) are available from (National Electrical Contractors Association) NECA. IHS is pleased to be able to provide the standards, specifications, and codes available from NECA.
-
NECA is the voice of the technical contracting industry, focusing on:
- General Contracting Installations
- Lighting Installations
- Limited Energy Installations
- Power Distribution
- Utilization Equipment
- Wiring Methods
- Standards in Development
One of the most important developments that NECA works on is the National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS), which is developed by NECA and in partnership with other industry organizations. NEIS are the standards for electrical construction. In addition to the basic safety requirements available in the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electrical Installation Standards clearly define installation instructions of products and systems. It is important to mention that the NEIS are submitted for approval by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Referencing NEIS:
- Saves Spec-writing time
- Controls over workmanship
- Ensures long-term performance
- Utilizing NEIS as enforcement in contracts can significantly reduce misunderstandings between Engineers, Electrical contractors, Owners, and Facility managers
With NEIS, the electrical installation you design not only meets code--it meets the shared expectations of everyone involved. Customers get a top-quality job, and you and your firm enjoy a reputation for long-term reliability.
