NBS and IHS work jointly to produce the Construction Information Service (known as the Service) an expert knowledge tool that delivers key technical information critical to all construction projects.

NBS responsibilities include the editorial management of the Construction Information Service, reviewing standards, technical documents and support information to ensure they are relevant to the scope of the Service. As editors of the Service NBS also produce value added content such as briefings and technical articles, which keep users abreast of the latest industry developments. These documents enhance the Service as no other service provider can provide such comprehensive technical information.

IHS and NBS also work together to ensure the Service always meets the needs of end users in a demanding and fast changing industry. Product reviews are undertaken regularly with annual customer surveys produced to ensure we continue to enhance the product with our subscribers in mind.

Our objective is to deliver a current and comprehensive information service that provides its subscribers with access to the critical documents necessary for each stage of the construction process. By working with NBS, subscribers also benefit from direct time-saving links to documents in the Service from clause guidance in the NBS specification software products (NBS Building, NBS Engineering Services, NBS Landscape and NBS Scheduler).

NBS is the publisher of the National Building Specification. A part of RIBA Enterprises Ltd and owned by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), NBS has a world class reputation for building specification and construction industry information.

The RIBA, one of the most influential architectural institutions in the world, has been promoting architecture and architects since being awarded its Royal Charter in 1837. Then the RIBA's remit was 'the general advancement of architecture'. Today's mission statement continues to embody these sentiments.
