Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF)

MPIF provides standards for powder metallurgy and metal injecting molding manufacturers.

  • The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) creates standards for the design and materials engineer that assist with specifying powder metallurgy (PM) materials developed by the PM and metal injection molding parts, powder, and equipment producers. MPIF standards clearly describe PM technology, which aids in the conduct of business. PM materials specifications and test standards are used by designers and users of PM parts as well as the manufacturer.

    The standards fall into three basic classifications:

    • Materials specifications for components 
    • Methods of test (for powders and components) 
    • Powder metallurgy press safety standards (developed in cooperation with the American National Standards Institute)
