Global Window is a subscription service, updated six-monthly. As a result Global Window models always contain an up to date reflection of below ground information in the light of recent events as well as current above-ground parameters.

IHS also provides Global Window consulting services in the form of interactive workshops using Global Window as the facilitating vehicle.

Global Window is designed to work with Microsoft Office XP or Office 2003/2007. This tool gives you access to a set of scorecards which are used to communicate technical, economic, commercial and strategic perspectives. These scorecards enable you to describe an exploration or exploitation opportunity at multiple locations.

Apply your own parameter weightings and the Global Window platform readily captures your unique perspectives and immediately incorporates your preferences into the Global Window model.

A "Traffic Light" system of red, green and amber serves as a visual aid to highlight  key below and above ground strengths and challenges in each location. These location specific displays can also be aggregated to reflect the characteristics of an entire portfolio thus facilitating the comparison between a user company's existing portfolio and the fit of a potential acquisition target.

Global Window is updated in June and December each year as a subscription service. The Q3 2010 edition contains 473 distinct models comprising 118 Exploitation, 320 Exploration and 35 Unconventional play locations.

New models are added at each update and subscribers automatically receive these new models for purchased regions as well as fully refreshed software. This update process keeps Global Window models accurate without unnecessarily accounting for temporary factors. This is particularly significant in the treatment of above-ground parameters.
