Associate Director, Global Oil
Carmen Velasquez, IHS CERA Associate Director, Global Oil, leads the Canadian Oil Sands Analytics product, providing comprehensive data supporting strategic decisions in the oil sands sector. Ms. Velasquez has worked in the energy industry for over ten years. Her expertise covers fundamentals modeling across the energy spectrum of oil, natural gas and power. Prior to joining IHS CERA, she was Head of Market Analytics for BP in Asia, based in Singapore, where she was responsible for creating analytics models to support short-term trading research, including refined product price outlooks. Ms. Velasquez also has experience in US and Canadian natural gas and power markets and previously held positions with BP and TransCanada in Houston and Calgary. Jackie Forrest
Senior Director, Global Oil
Jackie Forrest, IHS CERA Director of Global Oil, leads the research effort for the IHS CERA Oil Sands Energy Dialogue. Her expertise encompasses all aspects of petroleum evaluations, including refining, processing, upgrading and products. She actively monitors emerging strategic trends related to oil sands including capital projects, economics, policy, environment and markets. She is the author of several IHS CERA Private Reports, including an investigation of US heavy crude supply and prices. Additional contributions to research include reports on the lifecycle emissions from crude oil, the impacts of low-carbon fuel standards and the role of oil sands in US oil supply. She led the team that developed the North American unconventional oil outlooks and recommendations the 2011 NPC report Prudent Development of Natural Gas & Oil Resources - including the Canadian oil sands, US oil sands, tight oil, oil shale and Canadian heavy oil. Ms. Forrest was the IHS CERA project manager for the Multiclient Study Growth in the Canadian Oil Sands: Finding the New Balance, a comprehensive assessment of the benefits, risks and issues associated with oil sands development. Before joining IHS CERA, Ms. Forrest was a consultant in the oil industry, focusing on technical and economic evaluations of refining and oil sands projects.
Ms. Forrest is a professional engineer and holds a degree from the University of Calgary and an MBA from Queens University.
