IHS Sustainability In Action

  • Supporting organizations around the globe
  • Site Champions
  • IHS Earth Day
  • IHS Community Connection Month

IHS colleagues are integral in our sustainability efforts. They contribute ideas, volunteer time and make personal donations.

To further stimulate colleague engagement, each IHS office has a Corporate Sustainability Site Champion that coordinates sustainability efforts at each location throughout the year. Moreover, there are two global sustainability efforts: IHS Earth Week and IHS Community Connections Month.

To better recognize Earth Day, IHS has allocated an entire week to inform colleagues about environmental sustainability through local events and webinars.

IHS Community Connections Month is in May. During this month, more than 70 offices will hold a community or environmental activity.

 Building a Culture of Sustainability

  • 'Caught for Caring’ Customer Care Program

IHS Sustainability Award
To recognize our colleagues, and to further leverage the many great ideas and actions taking place around the company, we have an internal recognition program: the IHS Sustainability Award.

This is a quarterly award program designed to recognize the commitment and participation of IHS colleagues who are taking action and contributing to improving our footprint and Corporate Sustainability progress. Winners are recognized through the selection of either the purchase of carbon offsets, managed through  The CarbonNeutral Company, or, through microlending to a project of choice, through KIVA, as selected by the winner.

Caught for Caring Customer Care Program
The IHS ‘Caught for Caring’ program is an internal, peer-recognition program that rewards fellow IHS colleagues that are ‘caught in the act’ of providing exceptional customer care.  The goal is to encourage and reward employees who go out of their way to make that personal connection with both internal and external customers.  Any IHS colleague is eligible to nominate their fellow IHS colleague or team across the globe.
Since its inception in 2010, over 800 colleagues have been recognized and rewarded.  Awardees have a selection of gift certificates to choose from, including a donation on their behalf, to the American Forests organization.  To date, over 350 trees have been planted as a result of the ‘Caught for Caring’ program.
