Jan Zalewski joined IHS’ Country Analysis team in May 2009 and is responsible for political, security, and business environment analysis of South Asia.
Before joining IHS, Jan worked for the Strategic Foresight Group in Mumbai, India, and Asia House in Germany. He holds an undergraduate degree in Burmese and Human Geography from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London, and an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg.
Jan speaks German and Burmese, and has a basic knowledge of Thai, French, Spanish, and Russian.

James Brazier joined the Country Analysis team in 2011 and covers the political, security and business environment of Afghanistan, Pakistan, the US, and Canada.
He is also involved in new product initiatives. James holds an MA in South Asian Area Studies from London’s School of Oriental and African Studies as well as an MA in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of Glasgow.
He previously held several research and editorial roles, working at De La Rue, Asia Intelligence Service and the House of Commons.

Tom Grieder is an analyst working in the IHS World Markets Energy (WME) team covering the oil, gas and electricity sectors in the Asia Pacific region.
Tom is responsible for writing same-day analysis for Asia and for keeping country profiles on the region up to date.
Tom holds a Masters Degree from Kings College London and a Bachelors Degree from the London School of Economics (LSE).

Sarah McDowall joined IHS in February 2009 and now heads up the Asia-Pacific Country Analysis desk.
In addition, she is directly responsible for analysis of North-East Asia, including China. Sarah also contributes to IHS’ China Regional Service.
Before joining IHS, Sarah worked as a political consultant to the International Olympic Committee in the run-up to and during the Beijing Olympics. She holds an MA from Cambridge University in Oriental Studies as well as an MSc in Chinese Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

Neil Ashdown joined the Country Analysis Asia-Pacific team in August 2010, where he specialises in the political and security environment in Oceania.
Neil previously worked as Content Editor for IHS Jane's, editing security content for all regions, including Asia. He was also responsible for updating the Oceania binder in Sentinel and covering the South Pacific for Jane's Intelligence Weekly and Jane's Intelligence Review.
Neil holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Balliol College, Oxford.
