Energy (U.S. and Canada)
Correctness:
- Corrected or added Permit Number and API number to 3,200 Pennsylvania wells
- Updated and corrected 71,434 Texas latitude and longitude coordinates
- Updated and corrected 2,238 Louisiana latitude and longitude coordinates
- 1,304 API corrections in Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas
Currency:
- Colorado production updated weekly, instead of twice a month
- Michigan & New York permits gathered daily, instead of weekly
Completeness:
- Increased Canadian Directional Well Surveys to 98.6% coverage
- Increased Formation Tops to 95.4% of wells with appropriate logs
- Added well details to 681 wells in Kentucky
- Added Kentucky Record Number, Permit Number and API number to 10,040 Kentucky wells
- Added latitude and longitude coordinates to 5,944 Texas wells
Consistency:
- Removed slashes from field names in Texas on 3,892 wells
- Updated field names on 4,809 Wyoming wells from unknown or unnamed to a valid field name
Energy (International)
Correctness:
- A total of 30 fields have been revised (e.g. field resources, hydrocarbon information, outlines) and as a consequence of the production re-evaluation, a total of some 270 field annual production volumes have been added to the International field database in Netherlands as of July 2009.
- As of mid July 2009, annual production volumes for 35 fields in India operated by Oil India Ltd have been re-assessed using production graph curve and decline curve analysis. The production history of these fields is now complete up to 2007. As a result of this update, some 800 oil and gas production volumes in the International field database have been added or revised.
Currency:
- Added ratified boundaries between Ukraine and Romania in the Black Sea when the ratification treaty was published
Completeness:
- A total of 600 new Oil In-Place 2P resources-reserves (OOIP) have been added during the 2Q of 2009 as part of the OOIP worldwide coverage. As of mid July 2009, a total of 92% of oil fields in the International Database have an OOIP (2P) volume. At the start of the project (mid 2007), the coverage was about 73%
- The entire production history of the Hassi R'Mel super giant field in Algeria has been revised during the 2Q 2009. As a result, a total of 165 production volumes have been added for all hydrocarbons produced in this major field: oil, gas, condensate and LPG. For the first time the entire production history of this world class field is now available for our customers.
- Field production de-aggregation has been completed for all countries in Saharan Africa by April 2009. As a result, some 1,000 new production volumes have been added and 300 production volumes have been revised, 100% de-aggregation success for Morocco and Chad, 90% for Tunisia, 95% for Egypt and 55% for Libya, making a total of about 150 fields de-aggregated.
- Added and/or updated outlines for 490 geological provinces (basins, sub-basins and non-prospective provinces)
Consistency:
- Following a mass load of ~3,000 new wells in February 2009 for Tampico-Misantla Basin, IHS has undertaken a complete revision of the field outlines using field maps from PEMEX and comparing these with new well locations. A total of about 100 field outlines have been revised. This ensures a complete upgrade of that basin. The first ever being done for Tampico-Misantla.
- Redefined all Canadian and Arctic basins boundaries including description remarks
Product Lifecycle (Global)
Currency:
- Automated raw-data harvesting for several manufacturers which will result in increased information currency for part obsolescence solution
Completeness:
- Added 22,000 new and revised Standards to our products
- Added 2 new SDOs to our Standards products
- Added 6.5 million new electronic components, 800K fasteners, 400K Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) items, and 11 new manufacturers to our PLC parts information repository
- Added environmental compliance data for 7 million parts. This includes expansion of European Union RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances) information and China RoHS information. Introduced EU REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances) data model and over 400K parts information with Certificate of Compliance and Full Material Disclosures
- Added lifecycle prediction information to 6 million parts, and alternate parts for 1.7 million parts. Added two new commodities in life cycle solution
- Added content from three major aftermarket component manufacturers to our parts products
- Added 148,000 new documents from 25 new sources to our parts products. These include datasheets, product change notices, product discontinuance notices, environmental compliance documents, technical drawings, and others
Security (Global)
Currency:
- The currency of the IHS Jane's Defence Reference content has been significantly improved across all titles. A 12 month review cycle is now in place for equipment entries along side an aggressive reactive updating process to ensure that all equipment information is systematically reviewed and updated
- Jane's Intelligence Weekly was launched in June. It merges Jane's Intelligence Digest, Jane's Foreign Report and Country Risk Daily Report, to provide one weekly title on Country risk analysis. Through this title we are able to provide more content and on a more frequent basis
Completeness:
- More than 110 events are now being routinely recorded per day in the Jane's Terrorism and Insurgency Centre (JTIC) events database. A total of 2,384 records were entered into the database in June, which represents a new all-time monthly record. This represents a 62% increase on the 1,469 recorded in June 2008
- We added 'Extended Assessment' sections (information about the force's adaptability, sustainment and readiness) to Jane's World Armies, World Navies (JWN) and World Air Forces. Populating every country with this new data will be complete by early 2010
Consistency:
- JTIC Country Briefs have been launched for 25 states, offering detail on incident analysis and combining quantitative and qualitative analysis on the country in one report
- Sentinel defence files now contain a 'Strategic Weapon Systems' file which covers missiles and warheads plus 'Space Warfare,' analysis of ground-to-space warfare, manned and non-manned space platforms, communication and data rely satellites, anti-satellite and military space programmes
- Deployed regional Jane's Military and Security Assessments spreadsheets containing demographic, infrastructure, economic and state stability stats
Environment (Global)
Correctness:
- Assigned additional Quality Assurance personnel to improve overall quality and integrity of software releases
- Maintained Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) conversion text quality of 99.99% accuracy
- Expanded QA process and metrics for tracking correctness, completeness, consistency and currency of chemical regulatory lists utilized by Comply Plus
Currency:
- Added inventory view and transfer functionality to Hazardous Materials Management System (HMMS) product to provide real time inventory visibility and information sharing across client site
- Implemented new streamlined QA and testing process to expedite upgrades and new releases of HMMS product
- Delivered 99% of MSDS data orders on time or ahead of schedule based on shortened turnaround plan
Completeness:
- Improved MSDS acquisition success rate by an 8% average over the previous 6 months
- Added 4 new global chemical regulatory lists to Comply Plus
- Added information on over 197,000 chemical products to IHS Master database
Consistency:
- Developing installation tool/wizard for HMMS product to improve consistency of software loading on client servers.
IHS Global Insight (Global)
Correctness:
- Using enhanced Internet technology, developed new quality metrics to better track errors and omissions in our data collection centers. We have also upgraded our web monitoring technology and our missed / late update notification processes. As an example, we will be able to send you updates on our Asian and European data within 5 minutes from the time we receive it from our source.
Completeness:
- Completed our macroeconomic database expansion by adding 34,000+ series covering 16 countries in Eastern Europe and 20,000+ series covering 21 countries in the Middle East. And our State Construction Quarterly Briefing outlook recently added a user-friendly, searchable projects database to help you better understand your markets. These databases allow users to quickly and easily search for major construction projects by U.S. State, building category, status, and start date.
Consistency:
- Standardized procedures pertaining to the collection of macro data. This will ensure that processes and attributes such as data descriptions, bulletins / alerts, and data documentation are done in a consistent manner across all countries. The implementation of these new procedures will take place over the next two quarters.
