American Chemistry Council Challenges E.U. REACH Proposal
December 30, 2005
The proposal's plans for authorizing the use of chemicals are impractical, according to the ACC. The council said it advocates a common sense approach that ensures safety without reducing competitiveness and stifling trade with burdensome regulations, and encouraged European officials to focus on a scientific, risk-based approach rather than a bureaucratic and onerous system.
The E.U. is expected to enact amendments and make additional technical changes in the months to come in response to this and other questions about the REACH proposal.
