Oil is flowing at the rate of 840 b/d, with a water cut of less than 0.5%, at a shallow volcanic discovery made by Pan Orient Energy in its ongoing appraisal of block L44/43 in the Phetchabun Basin. The NSE-HE3 well encountered a previously untested volcanic reservoir about 45m thick at 610m, true vertical depth. No reserves of any kind have been attributed to this volcanic zone, which has been confirmed to be a distinctly separate pool from the underlying main volcanic reservoir at NSE. Crude is 32° API, versus 36° API in the main pool. The new producer was drilled in the northern structure of the central Na Sanun East (NSE) compartment. It followed the NSE-H2 well, which was flowing about 420 bo/d with a water cut of 26% in late April 2009.
