IEEE Reaffirms Recommended Practice Standard IEEE 1515 for Electric Power Subsystems

First passed in 2000, this recommended practice defines common parameters for alternating current-direct current (AC-DC) and DC-DC electronic power distribution components and subsystems.

IEEE 1515 is designed to enable electronic system engineers, manufacturers and researchers to speak with a common language and help facilitate effective and efficient communications, according to IEEE.

Implementation of the common specification language defined in this standard assists the power electronics industry, as well as the user communities including government system developers to acquire cost- and time-effective electronic power subsystems with enhanced interchangeability.
