Robert (Bob) Fryklund — Vice President of Industry Relations

Bob Fryklund is Vice President of Industry Relations for IHS.

Bob joined IHS in July 2006, after serving as Libya President and Brazil Country Manager for ConocoPhillips. With more than 26 years of both international and domestic industry experience, Bob has also held
senior leadership positions with British Borneo, Union Texas and Amerada Hess.

A frequent speaker on global topics, Bob’s expertise extends to the changing role of national oil companies, energy security, unconventionals and E&P strategies and performance. His international outlook has been strengthened by terms in both Brazil and Libya, and service on boards
such as the IBP (a Brazilian oil and gas association), the Libyan-US Council (a bilateral trade association) and the SPE-Libya and the American School of Tripoli. Bob has also written numerous articles in several languages and regularly contributes to leading industry publications.

Based in Houston, Bob leads the Expert Source Programme for IHS, which delivers strategic-thought leadership to the oil and gas industry in the form of insight and analysis. He devotes much of his time to customer relations and to assisting IHS customers with business solutions.

Bob holds an AB from Hamilton College and an advanced certificate in management. He has also completed advanced studies in business and geology from the University of Houston and the University of Tulsa, respectively. Bob is a member of the Houston Geological Society (HGS) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). He speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.
