IHS Joins the U.K. Green Building Council
BRACKNELL, England (Jan.18, 2008) – IHS Inc. (IHS: NYSE), a leading global source of critical information and insight, and The Construction Information Service -- the United Kingdom’s leading on-line service for construction professionals -- announced today that IHS has become a member of the U.K. Green Building Council (UKGBC).
“We are extremely proud to be a member of the UKGBC. Our aim is to actively support the objectives of the UKGBC to help improve the sustainability of the built environment,” said Nick Ecart, vice president, commercial development, IHS EMEA.
The UKGBC was founded in 2006 and officially launched in February 2007 at the Ecobuild exhibition in London. Thirty-six built environment businesses became the founder members of the UKGBC, including well-known names such as BRE, Barrett Homes, Ecobuild, Johnson Controls Ltd., and the Nationwide Building Society. The UKGBC is a member of the World Green Building Council (W-GBC) which is made up of nine country organisations including those from the U.S., United Arab Emirates and Mexico. As concerns about the effect of buildings, both in terms of their construction and their usage on the environment rise, the W-GBC, including the UKGBC, will look at ways in which the construction industry can become more sustainable.
