IHS and SAP Launch New Master Data Management Solution

Solution Enables Enterprise Management of Materials Data for Maintenance, Repair and Operations

BANGALORE, INDIA (November 12, 2007) — IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a leading global provider of critical technical information, decision support tools and strategic services, and SAP® today announced the launch of a joint offering for Master Data Management of Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) materials data.

IHS, through its Intermat offering, provides content and services to create standardized and enriched descriptions for industrial MRO items such as pipes, valves, bearings, associated plant equipment and general supply items. With the joint IHS-SAP solution, these standardized, attributed MRO item descriptions and Standard Modifier Dictionary™ (SMD™) description formats can now seamlessly populate the SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) platform. As part of this solution, IHS will leverage its SMD “Powered By NetWeaver” content certification.

“SAP Master Data Management provides the perfect platform to manage large quantities of MRO materials records," said Atul Sareen, Vice President - Platforms, SAP India. "Data integrity is absolutely essential when organizations are managing many thousands of MRO item descriptions. Together, IHS and SAP MDM provide customers 100 percent confidence that they can comfortably manage and optimize their MRO inventory, whether they have one plant or 100.”

The agreement includes many facets of joint marketing, including communications, cross-training, sales enablement programs, development and partnership performance management.

“With rapid growth and expansion, especially in India and throughout Asia, companies are relying on their enterprise systems to make informed and efficient business decisions,” said Bert Turner, vice president of IHS Intermat. “IHS Intermat and SAP Master Data Management address that need for managing MRO inventory and assets resulting in decreased cost and increased throughput.”
