Leadership Transition Positions IHS Energy for Continued, Strong Growth
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (April 6, 2004) – IHS Energy, the global source of oil and gas information, analytical software and consulting services, announced today it has named Ron Mobed as president and chief operating officer of the company. IHS Energy has established a 75-year track record of close partnership with more than 4,000 clients in 200 countries. The evolving business environment that IHS Energy customers face requires the delivery of relevant and timely data, as well as insight and analysis to drive key business decisions.
Mobed has a solid understanding of client processes and business requirements. His ability to align product and service offerings to meet customer needs is a key strength he brings to IHS Energy. A 22-year veteran of Schlumberger, Mobed has served in multiple roles including vice president of GeoQuest Asia; Asia marketing manager, Schlumberger Oilfield Services; vice president and general manager of Information Management for Schlumberger GeoQuest; director of Business Development, Business Information Continuity and Security Unit for SchlumbergerSEMA and other sales, marketing, consulting and management positions for the oil-services giant.

Mobed received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Trinity College, University of Cambridge in 1980, and received his master’s degree in petroleum engineering with distinction from Imperial College at the University of London in 1987.
Mike McCrory, former IHS Energy president and chief operating officer has moved to a newly created role with IHS Group, IHS Energy’s parent company, where he will focus on driving business development and acquisition activities for both the IHS Energy and Engineering divisions. McCrory has served as president and chief operating officer since 1999, during which time the company was transformed into a market-leading provider of global oil and gas information, consulting services and software.
