IHS Acquires Plan Analyst From Ben Weese & Associates

DENVER, COLORADO - January 07, 2004 - Information Handling Services Inc. (IHS), the leading international provider of technical content solutions and services announces the acquisition of Plan Analyst. Plan Analyst code compliance software completes code studies and building plan checks quickly and efficiently, allowing users to evaluate projects and explore how code requirements change with minor modifications to the project description. The software can be customized to meet local requirements.

Based on simple input, the software searches through various codes (IBC, IRC, BOCA, ICBO, SBCCI, NFPA and more), finds the code requirements (including exceptions) that may apply, and performs relevant calculations. The input (project description) for a project can take from several minutes to 30 minutes depending on the complexity of the project. The output is an analysis report showing how the code applies to the project, followed by a customized checklist and a correction report that enables architects to obtain building permits faster and building officials to check and issue permits more quickly.

Plan Analyst typically saves around 60% of the time it would take to conduct a manual study.
Since its launch in 1986, thousands of architects and building officials have used this time-tested software, making it the most widely used technical tool for code studies and plan checks available. Mark Johnson, Vice President of Business Development for the International Code Council (ICC), the leading developer of building codes and standards adopted by state and local government, says: "When used in tandem with the International Building and Residential Codes, Plan Analyst is a proven tool that dramatically speeds up code studies and plan checks."
